I poured out my worries to a friend
Hoping it would make me feel better
But what I told him became an open secret

to arrest a moment

Those memories are fragile, sometimes it needs two of you to keep them completely safe.
You forgot to kiss my soul.
Tracey Emin
I know what I’m doing with my work, and that’s really a nice feeling, that I’ve created something that wasn’t there before, that’s mine.
Tracey Emin
All the mistakes I've ever made in my life have been when I've been drunk. I haven't made hardly any mistakes sober, ever, ever.
Tracey Emin
Some people use just one condom, right? But we use tons.
Tracey Emin
Maybe I don't believe things myself, as well. Truth is such a transient thing.
Tracey Emin
I'm out of here, I'm better than all of you.

For you. From Rose. x

Tuesday, 7 July 2009

On nodding:

'Instead of words, he gives me the slightest nod, a fractional dip of the head with a brief lowering of the eyelids. To anyone else it is imperceptible, but to me it is bountiful...It says, 'Goodbye' and 'I'll take care of things' and, simply and honestly, 'That's it then'.
I know I don't need to say or do anything, nothing is expected of me, so I don't even dip my head in return.'
From The Behaviour of Moths.
On what's in your head:
'The skull is also silent, but this silence 'does not reside on the surface', it is held like smoke within. It is unfathomable, eternal' - intangible. One might also add invisible. This 'smoke' is the imprint of whatever creature once thought and dreamed inside the skull: the skull is an urn, or canister, a portable tomb for the life it once gave shape to.'
From Library of Dust
On Scent:
The thing about scent is that you can never really remember it when it's not there. Then it's there again, there for you to breathe in. You smell it, you touch it, you remember. The smell goes inside you. You remember everything quite perfectly.
On eating a daisy:
What if you put a daisy in your mouth?
That sense of 'eugh that is disgusting' but at the same time you maybe want to try it. Repulsion and intrigue side by side. It's like when you tip toe towards something, knowing you shouldn't be. It's like a person who you know is nothing but you want to give them all of you. It's like a trap. I can't say it's going to be good for you.
Eat a daisy.
On wearing a hat:
'To keep everyone away from me. They say, 'oh can I kiss you?' I say 'No, thankyou very much. That's why i've worn the hat. Goodbye. I don't want to be kissed by all and sundry. I want to be kissed by the people I love.'
Isabella Blow
